Writer/Director

Joshua Brandon

Joshua Brandon, a Sydney native, grew up with a mother from Canada and a father from Australia. In his early 20s, Brandon ran a theater company with his cousin Steven, producing and directing world-renowned plays.

In 2008, Brandon moved to Los Angeles to take his ideas to the epicenter of the entertainment industry, where he sold an original pilot within his first two years in Hollywood.

Brandon’s work as a television writer includes CBS’s “FRIEND ME,” SyFy’s “HAVEN,” and Fox’s “HOUDINI & DOYLE.”

In the film world, Brandon’s first feature “A THOUSAND LITTLE CUTS,” a psychological thriller he wrote and directed, was released on Showtime in 2022. The film stars Marina Sirtis (“Star Trek: The Next Generation”), Rebecca Liddiard (Margaret Atwood’s “Alias Grace”), and Colin Ferguson (“Eureka”).

Brandon’s second feature, “BLACK BAGS,” starring Laura Vandervoort (“Smallville,” “Bitten”) and Olesya Rulin (“High School Musical,” “NCIS: LA”) was released in 2023 and won Best Picture at the Kingston International Film Festival in the UK.

Recently, Brandon stepped into the publishing world, co-authoring William Shatner’s book, Boldly Go: Reflections on a Life of Awe and Wonder, released by Simon & Schuster to tremendous critical acclaim.

In the last several years, Brandon has also become an accomplished producer, shepherding a dozen projects from development through distribution.

Brandon’s third film as a director (and also writer), a family comedy titled 25 MILES TO NORMAL (starring Lucas Bryant, Rachel Nichols, Michelle Hurd, Ed Begley, Jr., Dee Wallace, and Bruce Davison) just wrapped and is currently in post-production.

In the television world, Brandon is currently developing a TV series with Chemically Altered Productions and Steven DeKnight, based on the bestselling ‘Soul Summoner’ book series by author Elicia Hyder.

Brandon lives in Los Angeles, CA with his wife Elizabeth, dogs Miles, Penny, and Lola, and annoyingly loud parrot Ringo.
